With more miles driven than members, our focus is on making connections. Dakota Region PCA Notice of Election
Meetings are on the 4th Wednesday of every odd month at 5:00 PM (Mountain Time).
NOTICE OF ELECTION
2026 is election year for Dakota Region. The board that is voted in will serve January 1, 2027, until December 31, 2028. Below is Article IV and V of the region’s bylaws pertaining to elections. Important dates are highlighted.
Article IV
Officers
Section 1: Composition
The Dakota Region will consist of a board of directors and executive officers. The board of directors will comprise of no less than 2 elected board members and no more than 9elected board members, the officers of the organization, the website manager, and the newsletter editor. The officers shall be the president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. Each member of the board will have one vote.
Section 2: Method of Election
Election of officers and board members will be set forth in Article V of the Dakota Region by-laws.
Section 3: Eligibility
All officers shall remain members in good standing of both the Dakota Region and the PCA during their term. Upon ceasing to be a member in good standing of either organization, the term of office of any such officer shall automatically terminate.
Section 4: Duties of Officers
President: Shall preside over all meetings; prepares the agenda and directs discussion in its regard; acts as an ex-officio member of all standing committees and temporary committees; executes all documents and correspondence in the name of the region as authorized. The president is responsible for returning the completed annual Region Report Form to National, assuring that the new president of the region has signed this report acknowledging receipt of this manual and other region property. The president may act also a signer of region checks.
Vice-President: Shall preside over meetings in the absence of the president. Will move to president position in the event that that office becomes vacant for any salient reason. Will work in conjunction with the president to assure seamless transition during change of administration.
Secretary: Causes to be recorded and preserved the minutes of the meeting of the region; presents and reads such minutes at the request of the president; prepares correspondence of the region. The secretary is responsible for all official regional notifications, to include the call for officers, dissemination and return of ballots, and their accounting.
Treasurer: Keeps and preserves the records and books of account reflecting the financial condition and operation of the region; is an official agent for signing of checks and deposits; prepares and files IRS and state tax information; prepares and maintains the state non-profit status documents. Furnishes an accounting of region income and expenses for each board of directors meeting. The treasurer is accountable for collection of monies either from dues or from events.
Board Member: It is the responsibility of the board of directors to determine all matters of region policy. The board shall insure the proper conduct of the administrative affairs of the region, the fulfillment of duties by the officers, and compliance with these by-laws.
Website Manager: Presidential appointed position with a term that begins at the start of the fiscal year. This person is responsible for maintaining a user-friendly website and appropriate social media, to transmit timely club information.
Newsletter Editor: Presidential appointed position with a term that begins at the start of the fiscal year. This person is responsible for publishing region newsletter via mail and/or internet, at a board-determined interval.
Membership Chair: Presidential appointed position with a term that begins at the start of the fiscal year. Will maintain records of members and track new membership contacts.
Section 5: Secretary/Treasurer
The secretary and treasurer positions may be held concurrently by one member.
Section 6: Vacancies
In the event of the death, resignation, disability, or disqualification of the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, or a board member, the board of directors shall have full authority to make an interim appointment until the next election cycle.
Section 7: Term Limits
Officers and board members shall not be limited in terms of service
Article V
Elections
Section 1: Eligibility
Any member or family-active member in good standing of the Dakota Region is eligible for a board or officer position.
Section 2: Nomination
Any member or family-active member in good standing of the Dakota Region must notify the secretary of the organization by 1 October (of election cycle year) of their intention to run for elected office. Nominees will be publicized in the current newsletter. Any member in good standing may nominate another member in good standing, with the nominee’s approval. A request for nominees for open positions should be sent to the membership as early as August 1st (of election cycle year), but not later than, September 1st (of election cycle year).
Section 3: Election Process
On or before the 15th of October (of election cycle year), the secretary will assure that ballots for officer elections shall be sent to members via email and available on the website for downloading. The ballots must be signed and returned to the secretary by 1 November (of election cycle year) by mail. Voting by email is also acceptable, the return of the ballot from online source being the acceptable form of electronic signature. The secretary will be responsible for tabulating and publishing the results. Both the member and family-active member are eligible to vote. Election results shall be determined by simple majority vote.
Section 4: Term of Office
The terms of all officers shall be for two years beginning on the first day of the fiscal year (1 January).
History of the Dakota Region PCA
The Dakota Region Porsche Club of America (PCA) was officially chartered on March 30, 1968, at the PCA Board of Directors meeting held in Charlotte, North Carolina. The region was established to serve all of North Dakota and South Dakota, creating a unified network for Porsche enthusiasts across the Northern Plains.
In its early years, the region organized driving tours, social events, and technical sessions, connecting owners across a vast and sparsely populated territory. Key cities such as Sioux Falls, Fargo, Bismarck, and Rapid City served as central hubs for early club activities.
However, by 1971, the Dakota Region became inactive, likely due to challenges in sustaining engagement across such a large area. Despite the pause, interest in Porsche ownership remained strong in the region.
Thanks to the dedication of local enthusiasts, the region was reestablished in July 1973, just two years after it had briefly gone dormant. From that point forward, the Dakota Region PCA steadily grew in both membership and activity.
In January 2023, the Dakota Region proudly celebrated its 55th anniversary—a testament to the strength and longevity of its community. From the early days of carbureted 356s to today’s fully electric Taycans, the region continues to unite Porsche drivers in the spirit of camaraderie, performance, and passion for the marque.
